So last week was not ideal. I came down with some sort of a virus that put me out for a few days. It was frustrating but didn’t affect my training too much. I’m in taper mode anyway so it kind of forced me to take it easy. Better to get sick last week than this week, right? I still feel it lingering a tiny bit but I think I should be back to 100% by the time I fly out (on Thursday)! I can’t believe it’s race week. Holy smokes.
Last week’s training:
Thursday: 5.25 miles
Saturday: 10 miles
Sunday: 5 miles
TOTAL: 20.25 miles
I’ve only got two short runs left to do before I go – 4 miles today and 3 miles on Wednesday. My stomach has been off since I got sick last week so I’m really hoping that it subsides over the next couple of days. I originally thought it was because of something I ate but it’s been about a week now so I’m not sure what’s up. Sometimes my digestion just gets weird when I’m under the weather so hopefully it’s just that. OR MAYBE I’M JUST NERVOUS. Probably nerves.
Also, Saturday’s run was a lot harder than I anticipated. I was so excited that I “only” had to run 10 miles but as soon as I got started, the humidity felt killer. It wasn’t even that hot but I immediately just felt soaked from head to toe. Anyone else run on Saturday and feel like this?? I was still sick and my body was a bit off but man, it felt like such a struggle.
I was invited to check out the pop-up adidas Athletics VIP Lounge after my run though so that was pretty awesome. They just came out with a new category of sportswear (adidas Athletics) and are featuring some of the pieces at the lounge. It was a really cool event space so I thought I would share a few of the snaps that I took while I was there.
Stylist Kristen Somborac was there to fit us into a Z.N.E. hoodie, there were free haircuts (for men) by The Fitting Room, drinks and bites by Pro Athlete Chef Andrew Muto, and custom embroidery and patches (for the hoodies!) by Peace and Cotto.
The concept of the hoodie (and Athletics line in general) is #FindFocus. Small details like thumbholes, soft fabric, and space for headphones under the oversized hood enable us (athletes) to focus and block out distractions.
“Focus is that got me here today and what will prove everyone wrong tomorrow.”
Pretty cool, right? Huge thanks to adidas for the invite and the Z.N.E. hoodie!
Hope everyone has a great Monday!! I’ve got a never ending to-do list to get through before I leave so it’s time to get down to business!!
