Harder than I thought…

I hope you all had an amazing weekend!  The weather in Toronto has been surreal.  I think Mother Nature decided to forgo winter for us this year and instead blessed us with some beautiful sunshine and warmer than usual temperatures.  I’m not complaining!

Yesterday Dean and I continued along with our half marathon training plan.  We had seven miles planned for a nice outdoor run but instead succumbed to the treadmills at our gym.  Worst decision ever.  I don’t know why, but this running is starting to feel much more difficult than I thought it would.  Maybe it’s because I took so much time off?  I don’t know what it is but it takes me so much longer to get through a run than it used to.  Good thing I don’t have any time goals for this half or I would probably be setting myself up for some serious disappointment!

The lighting in this room does wonders for my forehead, don't you think?

We still got our seven miles in!  Eight miles are scheduled for next Sunday and they will definitely be run outside.  The treadmill is great for interval training but when it comes to long(er) runs, the monotony kills me.

I posted the same above photo on Facebook yesterday and got some questions about my calf sleeves.  They are by Zensah and I highly recommend them.  I wear them during my runs as well as post-run (for recovery).  I’ve recently had shin splints from last weekend’s accidental half marathon as well as sore calf muscles from my workouts over the last few days and find that the sleeves help a lot.

In other weekend news, my mom bought me the nicest bowl.  Am I the only one who gets excited about eating my morning oats out of nice bowls??  Seriously though, I just want a whole collection of fun and colourful bowls.  None of them even have to match.  They just make breakfast that much more amazing! :)

Today I made protein oats: 1/2 cup oatmeal, 1 scoop protein powder, 1/2 a chopped apple, and a sprinkle of cinnamon.  So good.

Off to do a chest workout…and maybe some HIIT if my legs hold up!

What was for breakfast today?

Do you own/wear any compression gear?

better late than never.

Today I thought it might be a good idea to do my first WIAW.  I still don’t know how I feel about it!  I want to eat my food as soon as it’s ready and I really am not that great at photographing anything!  I don’t really think people would be that curious about what I eat but hey, who knows!  I read everyone’s WIAW so maybe they’ll read mine too??  I don’t really consider myself to be a food blogger (my food is relatively boring and super easy to make) but I hope you are still able to enjoy this post!

I think the first thing I’m supposed to do is credit Jenn from Peas and Crayons who makes her food look way more delicious than mine!

 Thank you, Jenn!

I would just like to note that the tofu and cheddar sandwich that I had for lunch was so ridiculously good.  Meg introduced me to this amazing smoked tofu not too long ago and I’ve eaten it a few times since.  The combination of the smokiness and the sharp white cheddar cheese I used was out of this world.  Plus it was grilled to perfection.  YUM.

I had the Greek yogurt concoction post-workout and it hit the spot.  Grow, muscles, grow!

How do you feel about WIAW?  Should this be my first and last ever attempt?

What’s the best thing you ate (yesterday or today)?  I know it’s Thanksgiving for most of you so I’m pretty sure you’ve got some good eats hanging around!
