Another week in the books. I’ll be honest, I didn’t feel super strong this week at all. My runs felt slower than usual (which I know is okay at this point in training) and I failed to execute my workout properly on Wednesday. My mind was just not in the right place and we all know that mental strength is often even more important than physical strength when it comes to running. I failed before I even started. Turning all that around this week and going to go into every run feeling positive and confident!
Monday: 45 minutes elliptical
Tuesday: 4 mile recovery run @ 9:14 min/mile
Wednesday: 8.09 mile easy run + striders @ 9:22 min/mile
Friday: 4 mile recovery run @ 9:19 min/mile
Sunday: 10.14 mile long run @ 9:10/mile
TOTAL: 26.23 miles
Now let’s talk about more important things. This week is Ocean Week and adidas has teamed up with Parley to crate Run for the Oceans, a movement that educates consumers on the effects of plastic waste affecting our oceans. I posted a video on my Instagram last week with some facts that you can check out HERE.
If you’d like to get involved and help create awareness about our oceans, here’s how:
- Download the Runtastic app. From June 5-11, track your running using Runtastic, share your runs with others and encourage them to Run for the Oceans too.
- Download the “Back to the Oceans” Runtastic story and listen to it on your next run.
- Register for Run for the Oceans and take the Parley Pledge.
- RUN WITH ME. If you live in Toronto, come and join me + adidas Runners Toronto at Coronation Park (711 Lakeshore Blvd West) at 6:30pm. Coach Rejean will be leading the run and adidas will be there raffling off TWO PAIRS of Parley ultra boosts. Make sure to wear blue to show your support and #RunForTheOceans! You can register and find more information about the run on the adidas Runners Toronto Facebook page.
I’m pretty excited about this. I’ve never run with the adidas runners so I’m looking forward to seeing some familiar (Instagram) faces and supporting an amazing initiative. I tried out the Runtastic app on today’s 4-miler so I’m all set for tomorrow. It’s super easy to use and if you carry your phone with you on your runs anyway, might as well log some miles with Runtastic and support #RunForTheOceans, right?
Hope you all had an amazing Monday and I’ll see some of you tomorrow night!
