Do you ever get seasonal cravings? I always do. Always always always. Soups in the fall, everything you can think of in the winter (I’m not joking), Mini Eggs in the spring (blame Easter), ice cream and apparently my newest thing: HOT DOGS in the summer. Yeah, hot dogs. I don’t know what other cities are like but Toronto has got street meat vendors on the corner of almost every sidewalk downtown and they always smell so freaking good. Ever since it started to get hot here I have been wanting one real bad, I don’t know why. I can’t even remember the last time I ate one of those. Considering I have been a vegetarian for over 5 years, it’s safe to say it’s been a while. Until last night.
CALM YOURSELVES. It was a veggie dog. The last time I strayed from vegetarianism (I ate fish) for like, a day, someone lost their sh*t. No I am not eating meat or fish and I don’t plan to. This was some random pack of veggie dogs I found at the grocery store. No, they were most likely not “clean”. To be honest with you, I didn’t even read the package for ingredients. I just wanted my dang hot dog. And I got it. With corn too!! I felt like a real human again. I usually miss out on barbecues because there’s never anything for me to eat so this was momentous.
1. I went on a really hot 12km run. It was supposed to count as my long run for the week even though it wasn’t that long. Michelle is keeping my milage low this week because my shins have been kind of hurting me. I think I piled too much milage on too soon so I need a bit of a break. I’m a wimp.
2. My toenail that had been hanging on for dear life since March finally fell off. No you will not get a picture of that because it looks horrible. I’m going to see if they can fix me up at the nail salon later and help me look presentable.
HOW DOES THAT EVEN HAPPEN?! I know I’m on my phone a lot but COME ON. And there are still five days left in the month! If I’m not connected to wifi this is just going to keep adding up and I am not going to be happy paying my next bill. I don’t even think it’s real. Or at least I am hoping it’s not. I’m going to have to call and ask some questions tomorrow because it just seems impossible.
4. My fried Amanda over at Run to the Finish has put together a Clean and Lean Project! The project helps you both with eating and with positive thinking and includes daily emails with recipes, workouts, resources, and tips. If you need that extra little kick in the butt to get back into the clean eating game or even if you are just wanting to learn, this program is awesome. It provides a lot of motivation and support from both Amanda herself and all the other group members. Amanda recently did a blog post with more info about the program here if you wanted to check it out!! There’s also a link on her site to register for the program if you are interested (or you can just click on the photo below and it should take you to the registration page).
Now it’s time for the gym! Happy Tuesday!
