A couple of weeks ago my good friend Sarah (who blogs with her sisters over at Always Training Trio) sent me an email asking if I wanted to be one of the first people to receive a skirt from her new line Attica Athletic (they JUST launched June 1st!). Yes, she is an awesome blogger and makes clothes. Her two passions are running and fashion so she merged the two and came up with this fabulous line with the motto “Look good, run faster”. I obviously said yes and within days a sweet little skirt made it to my doorstep!
Isn’t it cute?
Now I haven’t always been sold on the idea of running skirts. I got my very first one last year from Lululemon and was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable I was in it. As much as I love me some Lulu (we talked about my much needed intervention yesterday), I have found that they often repeat styles which is completely fine but sometimes it’s nice to expand the running wardrobe a little and let in some other awesome brands. The skirt retails for $56 (which is comparable to those at Lululemon).
Here are some of the other colours the skirt comes in:
The material is really light and there are small slits on the sides allowing for freedom of movement while running. I also really like the wide waistband (it sits really comfortably) and the fact that it has a small pocket for an iPod, key, etc. The skirt does not have built-in shorts. The reason for this is so that it can be slipped on over your favourite compression shorts, crops, or pants. So you can wear what you feel comfortable in and then slip a little fun on top!
I am now itching to run a race so that I can show off this amazing new piece of running gear!
I swear if I greased myself up I would look exactly like this in my photo too! 😉
What are your thoughts on the idea of a running skirt? Do you own any?
