MAGIC…is the first word that came out of Dean’s mouth when he accidentally took this picture of us.
So if Dean proposes before I turn 47, this picture is what you will find on our wedding invites. You better be coming! He actually looks like he likes me in the picture
It was taken on Friday when we decided to bike the Toronto Island. First we had to bike to where all the ferrys are. While biking, I spit out my gum and this happened.
That’s what I get for littering.
Anyway, we got to the ferry and there were CARS on it. Thank goodness the boat ride was only about 5 minutes. Dean’s brother collects bikes and let me have this vintage Raleigh for the summer. Check out his blog at www.416cyclestyle.com. He photographs some really cool bikes (and people ON the bikes!).
Once we got to the island we biked for a few hours and stopped to take some fancy pictures with the self-timer.
This is our “Wish You Were Here” postcard and it was taken with all you bloggers in mind. Ok, well maybe not at the moment but now that I look at it I realized it is the perfect invitation for you to come and visit.
That is the CN Tower in the background. It WAS the tallest freestanding structure until it got beat out by the Burj Khalifa in Dubai!
Dean then became thoroughly amused by the ducks in the water so he started feeding them gourmet buns that he packed for us humans to eat. As soon as he dropped one piece of bread into the water, these 5 ducks turned into 22 ducks.
Our total biking was about four hours…and that was AFTER I had gone for a morning run. You know what that means………….sugar coma time
I talked about having problems getting enough protein here so this seemed like the perfect post-biking snack. Plus, I had a race the next morning (today) so obviously had to carb load. A whopping 8km seems so much longer in the heat. Gotta make sure I have enough in my energy stores.
After OD-ing on sugar the bod wanted veggiessssss so I ate some veggie rice paper rolls. These are so so so GOOD. We bought them already made at a grocery store but I think they would be so easy to make on my own! I am definitely going to attempt it soon. The peanut dipping sauce made them extra delicious.
Then today was RACE DAY! (sorry about the long post). I ran the Dawn at the Don 8K. The race started at 8am and it was already so stinkin’ hot. I don’t have much to say about it… I was well-fuelled (thank you, Puffins) and felt pretty good the whole way. I wanted to break the 40-minute mark but I really didn’t push myself as hard as I could because of the heat. I crossed the line at 41:08 but I’m not quite sure what my official time was (I started a few seconds after the gun went off). I will be super happy if it’s just under 41 minutes
This is what we got post-race.
Classy party mix on a paper towel. With a side of candy.
I want fro-yo again but I don’t think Dean will take me tonight. He says three days in a row is too much. WHAT DOES HE KNOW?!
Have you ever tried rice paper rolls??
Are you more of a fruit + granola + nuts type of fro-yo addict or a chocolate + PB + cookie dough addict?
I am the latter. All the way.
If you haven’t entered my giveaway yet, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?!
