Well hello there. Long time no write! I took a much-needed break from the blog world over the holidays but I think we are back in action! It was nice to have less screen time and more face time with all the amazing people in my life. I hope you all had a really great, meaningful, love-filled holiday as well!
In November 2016, I copied Jess and posted a little “Coffee Date”. I loved the idea and intended on keeping it up in December but the end of the month was a bit hectic…so here I am. A belated coffee date for you. Grab a cup and let’s talk randomness!
Currently drinking: Hot chocolate! My Keurig barely gets used because I don’t often make myself coffee so I bought some hot chocolate pods and they are perfect for when I am craving something sweet.
Currently eating: Stir fry. Every day. I’m all about those quick and easy meals. I buy a bag of frozen mixed veggies (Costco or Whole Foods), throw them in a frying pan with a bit of coconut oil and then add some sort of protein. Falafel, veggie burger, tofu, tempeh…anything. It’d been my go-to for the last little while and I have yet to get tired of it! Not a pretty photo but that’s why I’m not a food blogger… 😉
Currently reading: The Couple Next Door. I just started it so I can’t really say much…but a friend suggested it after I told her I was reading The Girl on the Train (which I loved, BTW). As much as I love a good Netflix binge, I am hoping to read more this year. Any recommendations for my next book are greatly appreciated!
Currently swooning over: My new Tracksmith #NoDaysOff calendar. I know, I know…how can someone swoon over a massive piece of paper, right? I’ve just been so excited to run and cross off my days! Now, #NoDaysOff doesn’t necessarily mean you have to run every day. The concept revolves more around the idea of bettering yourself daily and doing things that will help you become a better runner – cross training, a yoga class, a jog around the block with your kids. Anything that contributes to the runner in you. The calendar is also FREE so if you want one, you can get it here!
Favourite photo I took in December: Okay, maybe it wasn’t me who took this photo but it’s one of my favourites from last month. I’ve been doing a lot of training runs with my friend Jonathan lately so I feel like I have a personal photographer now. He’s been super encouraging and running with him has kind of lit a fire in me again. The photo was taken on an 8-mile run we did together a few days after Christmas when it would have been a million times easier to just stay in bed. He has been holding me accountable and I finally feel like I’m getting back to being consistent with my training.
Coolest experience in December: I really loved meeting up with a bunch of local runners for a trail run back in early December. It was nice to hit the ground running with friends, both old and new. We all brought non-perishable food items with us and my friend Heather brought everything over to a food bank post-run. It was such a great way to get together, do something we love and help those in need.
Best thing on the Internet last month:
It’s pretty accurate, don’t you think? 😉
Because of my little hiatus, I never did get around to announcing the winner of my Sport Chek gift card giveaway sooo….
Congrats to Courtney! You have been emailed!
Hope you all have a great weekend! I’ll be back on Monday to talk a bit about 2017 races and training!
