Let’s catch up.
Easter – The best. I had a four day weekend and most of it was spent with all my favourite people. We ate all the food, I got a few good runs in, went to mass, and put I myself into a chocolate coma. I was off all dairy in the week leading up to Easter so diving into a bag of mini eggs never felt so good. Is it just me or are those things the most addictive candy in existence?
Marathon Monday – Also the best. I follow so many people (real life friends and IG friends) that went to Boston this year and watching them crush it on Monday was AMAZING. It seemed like weather was a HUGE factor but they all fought their way to the finish line and are now BOSTON MARATHONERS. It’s been a while since I’ve felt so inspired and motivated but now I just want to work harder than ever. Huge congrats to you if you raced on Monday. What an accomplishment! Anyone else get ALL THE FEELS after seeing these photos floating around this week? Man, there truly is nothing like a marathon.
Shoes – This was a big week in the shoe department. We got our custom adidas ultra boosts in the mail and I am in looooove. We designed these a few weeks ago at an event just before they were released to the public online. Only 3500 pairs were made available and each pair is stamped with a number.
I also have a pair of cycling shoes on their way to me. I tried on a similar pair a while back at a store here in Toronto and they were $500. IS THAT NOT BAT SHIT CRAZY?! Anyway, since I have no idea what I’m doing when it comes to cycling, I didn’t buy them. BUT the BF is a master at finding anything and everything online (at a better price) so we were able to snag this model for like $130. I don’t know about you but that seems like a pretty sweet deal to me.
Now I just need pedals. And a “real” bike. And a helmet.
Baseball – I went to my first Jays game on Wednesday night. Yep, in 32 years of being alive/living in Toronto, I have never been to a game. My first baseball game was actually in NYC last year when Gregg (@nycsweat) took me to see the Mets. Now I have officially been to two games and I can say with confidence that I don’t love baseball but I do love going on mid-week dates. Still a great time!
My next marathon – I know it’s still like six months away but this week has me thinking about running and racing more than ever. Last year I just felt so uninspired and really didn’t care to get faster or improve in any way as a runner. Sure, I ran Golden and the NYC Marathon but I did them more for the experience than anything. I haven’t had a time goal in so long and am itching to run with PURPOSE again. How early is too early to start thinking about goals for the fall?? I mean, training would probably start in June which is really not that far away. I want to make sure that I go into this cycle with everything I need to be successful, including a healthy mindset and positive attitude.
How’s that for a random Friday blog post? Today is just one of those days where my head is everywhere. I don’t know if I need a run or a nap right now but let’s just say I’m pretty happy it’s the weekend.
Have a good one and I’ll see ya next week!
