Whoa. It’s been a while since I posted. I think we are back in business now though, at least until next week. I leave for Vancouver on Wednesday and don’t usually update while I’m gone…but who knows! Anyway, here is a glimpse into last week’s training + life:
Monday: 3.15 miles @ 8:03/mile -> I did this run with the Equinox Run Club in preparation for the Yorkville 5K in September. We did intervals around Queen’s Park and it felt good to push the pace a little!
Tuesday: 5.53 miles @ 9:02/mile -> I spent the day hanging/running errands with Princeton. Actually, I was with him since Monday as my parents were up at the cottage so I was house/dog-sitting. I didn’t take him with me to the condo because he loves the backyard too much. My mom is also retired so he’s got company all day (he’d be left alone a lot at my place during the school year). I miss having him but I visit several times a week to take him for walks and spend time with him!
Wednesday: OFF -> I had a meeting downtown. We went to Revitasize in Yorkville which I am currently addicted to and it’s becoming a very expensive habit! I love ending my runs there (I take the subway back home) and getting a Maca Power.
Friday: SICK -> I skipped my run today. I had a tour of the new Sport Chek at Sherway Gardens scheduled from 1-3pm. I woke up with an intense migraine, worse than I’ve ever had in my entire life. I put on an eye mask and ear plugs and went back to bed, setting my alarm for noon so that I could wake up and get ready as I was being picked up by a driver. I felt a bit better after a few extra hours of sleep so I went ahead with the tour (I’ll talk about the store another day!). On our way home, I had to ask the driver to pull over and I got super sick on the side of the road. I knew my mom was home so I asked him to drop me off there since it was closer and then spent the rest of my day in bed eating popcorn because it’s the only thing I could get down. Has this happened to anyone?? My cousin experiences this often – migraines so bad that she vomits. It was the first time for me and it was such an awful feeling.
Saturday: 15.10 miles @ 9:23/mile -> woke up feeling good so I went ahead with my run which actually went really well! I finally got a call that my dining chairs were ready (after waiting 6 WEEKS) so I got to go pick those up too. My cousin had a party in the evening and I put myself in a serious food coma but I just convinced myself I needed to carb load for my run in the morning… 😉
Sunday: 15.09 miles @ 9:30/mile -> started this run way too late but that’s what I get for staying out until 2am. I got it done and it rained like crazy on me but it was such a nice change from the crazy heat we had all week. Went out to look for more house stuff later in the day and came home with a vase and a pineapple…
TOTAL: 45 MILES (<- not bad considering I skipped Friday’s run!) and a total of 194.3 miles for the month of July. This was my highest monthly mileage ever!
I really liked doing two medium distance runs over the weekend versus a long run followed by a shorter run. This weekend I am aiming for another 30 miles over the two days but the ratio will be different because I need to get a super long run in again. I’ll probably do 20/10 or 21/9…we’ll see.
I also got ZERO BBG workouts in! I wasn’t even that busy but I feel like I didn’t have the time. Maybe I just didn’t want to make the time last week. I’m not that stressed out about it as the goal was to just try and incorporate some strength/cross training into my schedule when possible. I’ll try to be a little better about it this week.
And now I’m off to get a blood test just to see if I’m deficient in anything. I’m tired a lot more that I should be so I need to get things checked out, especially with the Golden Ultra and NYC Marathon coming up. I need to ensure things are all A-OK.
Have a great day!
