First day of June! SAY WHAT?! Excited to see what this month has in store – already have a few fun things planned – but let’s have a little chat about May.
Currently drinking: I don’t know what it is about orange juice lately but I feel like I can’t leave home in the morning until I have a glass. It used to be something that I’d have once in a while but now it’s a daily thing and I’m a huge fan. Breakfast has been two Nature’s Path waffles with Earth Balance and a glass of OJ for maybe the last 50 days. That’s not even an exaggeration. I’m a creature of habit and it takes me a pretty long time to get bored of things!
Currently eating: VEGA SMOOTHIES. I ran out of my beloved Vega One a few weeks ago and just received a replenishment from my amazing friends over there. I missed my smoothies so much that I’ve literally had one for dinner for the past two nights. I don’t really have a recipe but a lot of people ask what I mix my powder with. It’s the same thing every time – one frozen banana, one scoop of powder and just enough almond milk to make it into the consistency of ice cream. So good.
Currently working on: Being patient. I had my first real workout yesterday and it didn’t really go the way I wanted it to. It felt off right from the start and I knew it wasn’t going to be great but I did it anyway. My splits were all over the place and I didn’t run my 100m repeats on a soft surface like I was supposed to. It was a disaster BUT…it’s okay. There will be many more workouts and I know things will improve over the next few months. I just have to get used to all of this again.
Currently obsessed with: Levi’s jeans! I have been coveting these forever after I saw a fashion blogger post about them. They don’t sell them at the Levi’s store here in Toronto but I was able to find them online at SHOPBOP. They were sold out at first but I literally refreshed the page 20 times a day until it showed that my size was available. It now shows that every single size is in stock so if you need a perfect pair of distressed jeans, I highly recommend them! Link is HERE. I was super impressed with the speediness of their shipping too. They came in less than a week (which is super rare for deliveries from the U.S.).
Favourite photo from May: I think I’ll have to go with this one. I know I only got one ride in but I’m super happy that I finally decided to give it a shot. It will probably be more of a weekend thing for me until school is over but I am really looking forward to more weekend riding in June. The BF gets his new bike this weekend so I’m confident that we will get some miles in.
Coolest experience in May: I don’t know if there were any particularly “cool” experiences but I was lucky enough to go on some great lunch and dinner dates as well as spend a lot of time outside. I am starting to really love going on walks. It gives us time to decompress, talk about life and enjoy the warm-ish weather that we are finally getting.
Best thing on the Internet in May: Jessica posted this in her instastories last week and I took a screenshot because there are some days that I need the reminder. We are always super proud to hit fast paces but what about when we nail our recovery runs? Sometimes it takes just as much effort to slow down and run very easy miles. There’s no reason to be embarrassed or avoid talking about the slow days. Embrace them and love them just as much as your fast and impressive days!
May mileage: I hit over 100 miles this month (101.20)! After a bit of a slow start to this year, I finally feel like things are starting to come together for me. Working with a coach definitely helps me to stay on track. There were a handful of days this month where I just did not feel like heading out for a run but having someone to hold me accountable got my butt out the door. I followed my plan perfectly this month. Didn’t miss a run, didn’t cut any runs short. Super happy!
I hope you all had a great May. Tell me something that you did/loved last month!
