I feel like I’m well rested but also like I can sleep for about six more hours right now. I’d blame it on having a busy Wednesday but I am not going to complain about my perfect day of running, working and then going out for dinner. So let’s just conclude that I am tired for absolutely no reason.
Wednesday morning started with a run (for me) and a ride (for the BF). I had a late start at work which was so nice and gave me a little extra time in the morning. The weather was supposed to be really nice all day so I suggested we get our workouts out of the way early so that we could enjoy a night out. I used to run/work out super early all the time and forgot how good it feels to have it all done before starting my work day!
Had some waffles post-run, did the work thing, went home and vacuumed (exciting), ran around like a lunatic looking for my wallet (it was in my car), and got ready for dinner. Nothing like a Garmin watch to complete your outfit! 😉
We went to Cafe Nervosa in Yorkville and it was DELICIOUS. Got to sit on a patio and everything. To start, we got the Insalata di Cavolo Nero – lacinato kale, zante currants, toasted pine nuts, shaved pecorino, parmigiano, lemon vinaigrette.
For my main, I got the Gnocchi di Ricotta – homemade buffalo ricotta gnocchi, ramp pesto, Marcona almonds, pecorino…and he got the Mafalde ai Funghi – portobello, porcini, crimini, oyster mushrooms, parmigiano, truffle paste, light cream sauce.
I died and went to heaven. I love pasta. I also love fitting into my pants so I think tonight I will eat a salad. Hah.
Anyway, I just wanted to talk real quick about sharing run times and paces. Maybe get some opinions. For a long time, I only really shared my paces when I felt like they were “good”. I’d do my weekly run recaps or my Marathon Mondays and share numbers when they were fast (for me), but conveniently leave them out when my paces were slow or less impressive. WHY?! Looking back, I’m kind of disappointed that I felt embarrassed and considered myself to be “less than” or inferior to those who could run faster than me. There are times (like right now) when my training is going to be easy and my goals are going to be to build a base rather than get fast. And that is okay! I want to be transparent and share both the good days and the bad days, the easy days and the hard days, the slow days and the fast days. It all counts and every single run plays a role in getting us to our end goal.
I also know people who don’t post their times, paces or race results anywhere. Even some super fast friends refrain from doing that for whatever reasons they may have and that’s okay too! I just want to be able to share as much of my journey as I can and am totally okay with plastering my times on the Internet. I personally enjoy following other people and reading about their workouts – I find it inspiring and it really motivates me to work hard. If reading about my training can do that even for just one person, I’m all smiles.
Hope you are all having an amazing week so far. Get out and enjoy that sunshine!
