Currently drinking: Water! That’s it. Keeping it simple these days, though I did make a few solid attempts to like kombucha…and failed. I just can’t do it, guys. Not for me.
Currently eating: ALL THE HEALTHY THINGS (and pizza). I finally did a small food prep this weekend after a 67-month hiatus. I made all the basics – brown rice, roasted sweet potatoes, grilled tofu and tempeh, homemade caesar dressing and I washed and chopped lettuce to have ready for salads during the week. I also always keep frozen veggies on hand (huge bag from Costco with broccoli, cauliflower and carrots) as well as veggie burgers from Whole Foods (Amy’s brand). Having all of this in the fridge makes it super easy to put together healthy meals in just a few minutes – something that I used to do a lot. Back at it now that training is getting a little more serious!
Currently working on: Time management/schedule organization. I am feeling a bit discombobulated lately and find that I leave a lot of things to the very last minute (*cough* taxes *cough*). I need to be a little more organized, especially since I’m done working NEXT MONTH (where did this year go?!). Structure is super important for me, especially in the summer months. If I don’t plan, my days just pass and I feel like I don’t get anything accomplished.
Currently obsessed with: Adidas Gazelles. Sport Chek sent me these adorable pink/grey ones a few weeks ago and I am in love with them! So cute for this season and they look good with just about everything – shorts, leggings, jeans, sweatpants…e v e r y t h i n g. So glad all these classic styles are coming back!
Favourite photo from April: There are so many from Easter that I love but I’m going to share this one from the weekend! We went to High Park to get a look at the famous cherry blossoms and it was so insanely busy. I don’t think we would have made the trip but Princeton had a vet appointment in the area (just a check up) so we walked over to take a look. I didn’t even get any good photos of the trees but did manage to get about 100 of Princeton looking absolutely miserable (he got two vaccines that made him so sleepy).
Coolest experience in April: I don’t know if you’d call it “cool” but I got to take the BF to see Niagara Falls for the first time!
Best thing on the Internet in April: Hummusapien’s post on the unicorn frappuccino. Anyone else irritated by all the drama surrounding a DRINK?!
Thank you, Alexis. I am not a big fan of frappuccinos but there are a lot of other treats that I eat without thinking twice before doing so. I will never understand why other people feel the need to make others feel bad about themselves. Food is food and we are all old enough to make our own conscious decisions about what we put in our bodies! No judgement necessary!
April mileage: 83.2 miles. Not where I would have liked it to be, but it is what it is. I’m not beating myself up for having a couple of “off” months. I think in the back of my mind, I knew that training was going to get ramped up in May/June do my attitude towards running and training was a little more relaxed. Now it’s time to WORK.
My next post will be all about what my plans are for this current training cycle, including coaching details, a tentative race schedule and some goals!
