These have become my favourite posts to write (thanks to Jess). I love looking back on my month and noting some of the things that have happened, reflecting on goals, sharing new things, and just talking about random life stuff. Here we go!
Currently drinking: Water and OJ. I ended February and started March with one hell of a cold so I’ve just been trying to drink lots of water and take in as much Vitamin C as humanly possible.
Currently eating: Guacamole Doritos. Okay maybe I’m not currently eating them but I did share a bag with a coworker the other day and we were both pretty surprised. They don’t really sound good, right?! I even got some slack from Shane. He said I need to physically dip a chip into guac…and that I’ve got a strike against me now for liking these (sorry TSA!). They are not as good as the limited edition ketchup ones but they are still really tasty. Go get some before they are gone!
Currently working on: Eating less junk! The above Doritos were my last treat before “Clean March”, where I am going to make an attempt at avoiding any and all junk food. Dates, car snacks and movie nights have resulted in a few too many indulgences lately so I think I owe it to myself. A bit of a “reset” is what I’m needing right now.
Currently reading: Nothing…but I did just order this book and am looking forward to some mental decluttering!
Currently obsessed with: These ultra boosts that I got for Valentine’s Day! I love the colour but vow to not wear them until we have better weather. They are definitely going to be a pair of “non-running” running shoes. Anyone else have certain ones reserved for running and others reserved for all the other days that you go out in running clothes but don’t actually run? No? Just me?
Favourite photo from February: There were so many good ones taken last month but I went with this because it represents a pretty memorable weekend. It even got regrammed by Roots! That was pretty cool to see.
Coolest experience in February: Banff, Banff, Banff!
Best thing on the Internet in February: Kelly Roberts (also known as Run, Selfie, Repeat) just wrote a blog post titled SHAME ON YOU RUNNING COMMUNITY. I won’t say much except…go read it. I love the way Kelly writes and I agree 100% with everything she said. Here’s one small bit:
February’s mileage: 90.5 MILES. Womp womp. I really wanted to hit 100 but came a little short. There were two weeks where I ran maybe 10-15 miles and last week when I was adding up my numbers, I realized I had to run about 10km a day to reach my monthly goal. Feasible, right? Yeah…until I got sick. I almost forced myself to run 9.5 on Tuesday just so I could hit my goal but it really wasn’t worth it. Resting was more important so that’s exactly what I did. I’ll be aiming for 100 again in March!
