And just like that, week 13 of ultra training is over. I am officially halfway through the training plan that I’m barely following! The frustration was very REAL for a while but things started looking up again last week. I ran over 40 miles (which hasn’t happened in a while) and most of my runs felt pretty good.
Monday: 4.10 miles @ 8:56/mile
Tuesday: 6.07 miles @ 9:04/mile
Thursday: 7.61 miles @ 9:09/mile + #HereToCreate workout
Saturday: 17.27 miles @ 8:40/mile
Sunday: 6.25 miles @ 9:36/mile
TOTAL: 41.3 miles!
I got to run with Jonathan and his pals on Saturday and man, it was nice! When you’re out there for more than two hours, it feels really good to have people with you. The time went by real quick and I ran a lot faster than I would have if I did 17 miles on my own. Most of the crew was faster than me but Jonathan was nice enough to stay by my side from beginning to end and for that I am thankful! The last few miles were really hard for me and I wanted to quit really bad. I am almost 100% certain that if I was on my own, I would have either cut my run short or stopped to walk a million times. But I didn’t! It felt so good to be done. It’s also a lot easier to take cool photos when you run with people! 😉
After our run, Jonathan and I went for brunch. My selection was a bit (okay, a lot) greasier than my usual go-to post-run meals but hey, it tasted delicious.
I’m trying my best to get back on track with my training but I should have logged two 20+ mile long runs at this point. I’m aiming to get at least 19 in on the weekend and crossing my fingers that I feel okay doing it. Unfortunately I can’t run with the crew this Saturday (my mom and I have a spa date…not complaining) so I will have to survive the trek on my own.
Hope you all had a great Monday!
