MARATHON MONDAY: MIZUNO WAVE INSPIRE 11 REVIEW

Hello and happy Monday! Although I often intend to share my weekend before diving into my Marathon Monday discussions, I fear my daily adventures might seem mundane to most. However, I did experience two fantastic eateries in Toronto: Tabule on Queen Street West and Karine’s at McCaul and Dundas. For anyone local or visiting Toronto, Tabule is a must-visit Middle Eastern delight with arguably the best hummus, babaganouj, and endless pitas. My appetite was nearly satiated by just the appetizers, and by the time my falafel platter arrived, I was almost too full! I attempted some photos, but alas, the dim ambiance didn’t cooperate. But believe me, it’s worth a visit!

Karine’s, situated oddly in a nondescript food court opposite OCADU, caters to vegan and gluten-free enthusiasts. I’d been eager to try their breakfast platter, but unfortunately, a few bites in, I experienced some unpleasant stomach discomfort. However, their extensive menu does provide plenty for both vegans and omnivores.

On the leisure side, I binge-watched Broadchurch this weekend. For those unfamiliar, it’s a gripping drama on Netflix – highly recommended for a weekend indulgence!

Now, onto the Marathon Monday rundown:

Last Week’s Training Highlights:

  • Monday: 17.5 miles with an average pace of 9:14
  • Tuesday: Rest Day
  • Wednesday: 8-mile tempo at 7:56 avg pace
  • Thursday: 25 minutes of stair workouts + strength training focusing on the lower body
  • Friday: 6.2 miles, focusing on hill repeats, at an 8:51 avg pace
  • Saturday: Rest Day
  • Sunday: Significant 20 miles at an 8:30 avg pace

Sunday’s run was pivotal for me. A challenging 6-mile fast finish after the initial 14 miles tested my stamina, reaffirming my preparations for the upcoming Phoenix marathon. The finishing speeds were between 7:36 to 7:54, demanding both physical and mental prowess.

Recently, I’ve been experimenting with Mizuno Wave Inspire 11s and Sayonara 2s for my long-distance runs. Both shoes offer unique experiences, but today, I’ll share some insights into the Inspire 11s.

What I Adored:

  • Design: The color divergence from the typical pink hue in most women’s running shoes is refreshing.
  • Fit: A perfect balance between a snug and roomy toe box.
  • Comfort: The cushioning feels tailor-made for my feet.
  • Lightweight: Weighing in at just 8.6 oz, it provides support without weighing me down.

Minor Grievance:

  • Laces: For those like me who prefer a double knot, the laces could be a tad longer. However, I’ve been informed that Mizuno is considering lace adjustments for future models.

To sum up, the Inspire 11s have rightfully earned their spot in my running shoe rotation, proving ideal for long and relaxed runs. Happy running, everyone! 🏃‍♀️🌱👟
