Things are starting to come together and I’m pretty sure I can now tell you that all of the photo shoot/marathon/trip to Vancouver craziness was all because of Vega. Shortly after Phoenix, my peeps at Vega called me to ask if I would be interested at all in being featured in their upcoming Fuel Your Better Campaign. Ummmm. Okay?!?! At first I didn’t really think it would happen. It was kind of just thrown out there like it might be a possibility but the planning was still in the works so I didn’t think too much about it. Then one day I got on a call with them and was asked a bunch of questions regarding my goals, training, past injuries, experience with Vega products, etc. and thought to myself…”this might actually be happening!” The campaign would involve a photo/video shoot/interview in Toronto and then a trip to Vancouver to run the BMO Marathon. I mean, how could I say no? One of my favourite places to see some of my favourite people representing one of my favourite companies. I was floored. I asked myself a million times why the heck they would pick me. My race times aren’t spectacular and I don’t consider myself very exciting…but after slapping myself silly a few times and several pep talks from people who care about me, I realized it didn’t matter. They picked me! It was nothing but happy thoughts from then on. I was about to experience something that still feels like a big dream (especially the big surprise from Emily!).
I got a few photos from the shoot but I won’t share them all because I don’t want to spoil what’s coming soon…but this one is one of my favourites:
What you don’t know is that they made me run four miles on the treadmill after eating a massive stack of pancakes and I sort of wanted to die from all the cramping that was going on in my stomach. It wasn’t until after the fact that they said “Yeah that’s why Brendan doesn’t eat before his shoots.” Thanks. It was a blast though. I loved every second of it.
OKAY ENOUGH ABOUT ME! Let’s talk about the campaign!
The main page of the Vega Sport site is now all about fueling your better – helping you to figure out what it is that’s holding you back and then offering you all kinds of support – for free. You can click on any of the “setbacks” – Motivation, Stamina, Overtraining, Hitting a Wall, Body Composition, Muscle Soreness, Fueling (that’s my sweaty face – haha!), and Muscle Burn – and the link will bring you to a page that provides you with information, videos, and product information to help you find out what it is you need.
It’s kind of funny that they used one of my images for the fueling section, since it’s something I’ve been dealing/struggling with for a while (my stomach pains are still going strong so I haven’t nailed the problem just yet). All I know is that all the Vega Sport products I use have helped me big time, especially during my last two marathon training cycles. I started using Vega before I even had this blog so I’m saying this because I genuinely love and believe in the products (and I promise you I don’t get paid to say nice things about them). I’d say my favourites are the pre-workout energizer, the recovery accelerator, and the performance protein. I use these three nearly every day along with the new bars, which has become a problem because I am legitimately addicted to them. Could be worse, right?
I’m sharing this with your guys because I get a lot of questions about fueling and what Vega products I recommend, how I stay motivated, how many rest days I take, the list goes on. Honestly, everyone is different. That’s why I love this Fuel Your Better campaign so much. We all need help in different areas when it comes to our training so it’s all about fueling YOUR better and doing what it takes to help YOU progress and improve in the areas you need it most. The site is really interactive and there’s a ton of awesome information so if you get a chance, take a look and let me know what you think!
Hope you have a great Tuesday!
Just curious…looking at all of the “setbacks” above (motivation, stamina, etc.), what do you think holds YOU back the most/what would you need the most help with?
