Yesterday is going down as one of the best days of my life. Ever. I sat in my hotel and wrote my little TOL post before I headed out to do some filming for Vega. They wanted to film just outside my hotel so I didn’t have to go too far. I sat on a bench while they interviewed me (this will all make sense in a few weeks, I promise) and a question about who inspires me came up. They had already asked me about my inspiration when they came to Toronto to film a couple of weeks ago but said they needed to ask some of the same questions because I sounded really tired in my last interview. As I started to talk about Emz, SHE CAME UP BEHIND ME AND GAVE ME A BIG HUG!!!!!!!!!
I honestly could not even believe what was happening. Vega brought her here all the way from Arizona just so that she could cheer me on during my race. I was literally SPEECHLESS. I did not expect this at all.
This entire trip has just been brought to a whole new level. I was really nervous about running another marathon just two months after Phoenix. I had Emily with me every step of the way in Phoenix so wrapping my head around running 26.2 alone kind of freaked me out. I feared that I wouldn’t have something driving me to the finish. No one to follow. No one telling me YFGT. Although Emz isn’t running with me tomorrow, she will be at a few spots along the course with my friends from Vega so I now have a pretty awesome cheering squad to look forward to. Plus…having her there will just motivate me to get to the finish line that much faster so we can spend time together, right?
I am so excited.
Once I was able to settle down a little and finish the interview, we went to dinner at Heirloom and ate such a fantastic meal. They brought us a taste of what I think was carrot slaw with coconut yogurt.
We shared the ‘shoots and sprouts’ for our appetizer.
And we both got tempeh burgers with avocado frites for our main.
Best meal I’ve eaten in a long time. Best company too!
We walked around the city for a bit and decided to pack it in early so we could get some rest and have all kinds of fun today. It’s not every day that I get to wake up and meet Emz for breakfast. Sounds so crazy. I can’t believe we are both in Vancouver right now. I am so grateful for my friends over at Vega for setting all of this up. They are way too good to me.
I’ll be racing in the morning and probably won’t be back to post again before then so wish me luck and speedy vibes!! Thank you all for supporting me along this crazy journey. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow has in store!!
