So my long run I spoke of in my last post was somewhat successful. I had the intention of going about 12 miles. That was my plan last week but then I almost got hit by a car so I went home. Today I went out feeling really good. I ate my toast with peanut butter and a side of grapefruit, drank some water, and then let myself digest for about an hour.
I said my goodbye to Princeton. I swear he wasn’t drunk. Cute puppies take bad pictures too, okay?
And I was off… Dean came with me for about two miles and then turned around. Hah. What a great running partner. Kidding. I actually really enjoy running alone. We started running on the sidewalk and it was a complete mess. Some people didn’t shovel the sidewalk in front of their homes so it was a serious balancing act to get over some of the piles of snow. In other areas a lot of the snow had started to melt and it was just complete slush. We headed to a huge cemetery where a lot of runners go. It sounds weird but it was actually really nice and peaceful and it was completely plowed so there was no chance of falling on my face (well…less of a chance;).
This is where Dean left me and then I got lost, that’s how big the cemetery is. I had to pee so bad (TMI?) so after about five miles I finally found my way out and decided I would head to the local running store to use their bathroom. Too bad I got lost for a second time and didn’t actually find the store until mile eight. Awesome. Four miles to go and I felt like a million bucks…until I pulled something in my leg at mile 10 (at this point I was back on the snowy sidewalks). All that balancing in the snow made me work some little muscles that are not used to working so hard but I finished (slow) and ended at 11.70 miles (just short of my planned distance). Good enough for me.
Okay that sounded like a race recap. Basically my run was decent, I’m directionally impaired, and there was so much snow that my feet got cold and wet, plus I pulled a muscle in my leg.
I am attempting to plan my dinners this week. Last week I had way too many nights where I just came home from work and snacked on random food until I was full. It left me unsatisfied and unsatiated. I thought up some meals and will go grocery shopping today to pick everything up. This way I will know exactly what I need to get! Here is the plan:
I’ll try and share pictures every day to show you how I prepare/what I put in these meals too. I hope to make a little extra every night so that I have leftovers for lunch the next day. Aaaaand one of the nights might be turned into a “cheat” instead. We shall see! Can’t wait! I’m getting hungry just looking at that list!
What do you usually eat before a run/workout?
Do you plan weekly meals?
