The answer was EVERYTHING.

by Christina @ The Athletarian on January 18, 2013

Thanks for all of your comments on my last post.  I re-read it and I couldn’t help but laugh at myself.  My bruise is still there but doesn’t hurt so much, my neck feels a bit better, and I got my tooth fixed by a new dentist that I LOVE.  I love him so much that I’m going back on February 5th for a cleaning.

Now let’s talk James Wilson……….OH, JAMES WILSON.  I AM SO FREAKING SORE TODAY.  Yesterday was Week 1, Day 3 and it was honestly my lowest burn all week but I am feeling this workout the most.  It didn’t seem like the most challenging while I was doing it but holy heck.

I havent done today’s workout yet…  I tried to wake up at 4:30am like I usually do but I was just so tired so I decided to “sleep in” (until 6am) and the plan is to go after work even though I hate going in the afternoon.  It makes circuit training nearly impossible but I am going to try my best.  I can still say walking lunges are still my least favourite exercise in the entire world.  Working legs used to be my favourite and now I actually don’t look forward to it at all.  Arms, shoulders, and back are my favourite parts to work now…probably because my upper body resembles a bean pole and I want it to catch up to my lower half.

Now part three of this random post has to do with buying sriracha for the first time.  I feel like I’m the only person in the world who has never tried this stuff.

I asked last night on Instagram what I should put it on and the most common answer was “EVERYTHING!” so I had it in my oats this morning for breakfast.  Kidding…but I DID put it on my lunch today and I’m really looking forward to it.  I made a healthified vegan mac and cheese last night and even though I don’t know what the sauce tastes like, I think it’s going to be good.

What’s your favourite body part to train?

Do you like sriracha?  What do you put it on?

4:30 everyday? Sleeping in until 6?? Girl, your motivation is inhuman. I had to wake up at 5:30 this morning for yoga and almost died.

HAHAHAHA! PLease don’t die. I am literally like a zombie after work so I force myself to do it. Today isn’t going to be pretty!

I am totally the same – as awful as it is to wake up early, I HATE working out after work! As far as I’m concerned, the only after-work activities are eating, seeing friends, and watching Project Runway.

Ahahaha Addy, I love that! Eating is my favourite after work activity! ;)

I actually love training legs. My favorite is probably shoulders/triceps though. My weight training has kind of been lacking in the last couple weeks though, been spending more time running! Can be hard to juggle both sometimes since I absolutely loathe the treadmill and run outside, and not always enough time to make a trip to the gym also.

It is hard to juggle both! I had to drop my running down to three days a week but I’m okay with that right now! :)

I’ve never had sriracha either! I’m not a spicy fan, though. Do you think it’s really spicy or not?

Reply

10 Christina @ The Athletarian January 18, 2013 at 12:55 pm

Hmmm I can handle a lot of spice so I didn’t find it too hot! If you’re not a fan of spice then maybe don’t go buying a huge bottle like I did at first….or you’re be stuck with a lot!

Seriously? How have you NEVER tried Sriracha before? It’s great on nealry everything, but my two favorites to use it on are scrambled eggs and on fish tacos.

On a related note, have you been to Bi Bim Bap on Eglinton West? Hot Stone Korean rice bowls with delicious veggies and different hot sauces to choose from. It’s a delicious meal and they have some great spicy dishes!! Worth checking it out, we eat there a few times a month at least :) I love spicy food too.

I totally am on the same boat, doing James Wilson’s program and I’m super sore as well!! I’m a 530 am gym goer and love going in the morning for the same reason tfT 1- in the afternoon it’s nearly impossible to workout and 2- it feels so much better to be done with it bright and early.

I love sriracha and yes tastes amazing on literally everything. I laughed soo hard when you mentioned putting it on oats lol!! We meant everything but oats! Hope you’re lunch was good and keep kicking booty! Glad you’re feeling better too :)

How’s it going with your gallon of water?? I saw your post last week bug decided to wait until today to try it myself because I have a three day weekend! I’m a teacher too, and here in the States we have no school Monday for MLK day. Trying just to get the gallon down today (I feel like I’ve had to pee a million timed already and I’ve only got the first half down) and Sunday and Monday going to try and train my body to get used to only being able to per at certain times. I have 3 he stretches of class with no break so I can’t leave for the bathroom! How long did if take you to get used to the amount of water?

26 Christina @ The Athletarian January 19, 2013 at 8:34 pm

Hi Erin! My body STILL isn’t used to it! I pee so much. I actually had to leave class once last week and have the teacher next door keep an eye on my class because I had to go so bad! I’m sure it’ll get easier though. Maybe start with a little less than a gallon at first and slowly work your way up!

Ooooh and I meant to add- my friend once made a sriracha ketchup! Something like a 1:3 ratio. Was a big hit at a pool party where we grilled burgers etc, but I imagine you could use it on anything (providing you like ketchup!).

Are you able to set the HRM for YOUR fitness level or do you just begin exercising and it uses a preset calculator of anyone? I had a Polar that had Ownzone and it let you set the watch for you ’cause a fit person like yourself would use less calories to run a mile( and use the same amount of time) than say a 200lb man. My Polar died after and I’m wanted to replace it and have seen alot of users with this model but they don’t know what I mean by Ownzone.

34 Christina @ The Athletarian January 20, 2013 at 10:22 am

I’ve never heard of Ownzone either… For this Polar all I had to do was enter my height, age, and weight during initial setup and it bases it’s calculations off that.

With out the Ownzone it’s like using the eliptical or treadmill preset calculations for just anyone. I’m sure I burn a different amount of calories for 30 min on the treadmill than say a person the same weight, age and height as myself that has never been on one before. My previous watch would let you set the OZ right at the beginning or skip. So say you believe you’ve improved cardio wise than when you first set the watch 6 months ago you do a quick 5 min test to set your new cardio limits. I think I’m getting this one http://www.heartratemonitorsusa.com/polar-rs300x.html?productid=polar-rs300x&channelid=FROOG&utm_source=CSEs&utm_medium=GoogleShopping&utm_campaign=heartratemonitorsusa
