Good morning and happy Tuesday! I am soooo happy to see that so many of you entered my Vega giveaway! All of your goals for this year are amazing and super inspiring – running ultra marathons, destination races, prepping for bikini/fitness competitions, cleaning up eating habits, raising money for charity, flossing your teeth every night (LOVED that one!!). So many good ones! You have until Friday to enter so don’t forget!
I went to the gym super early this morning. Getting back into this habit is going to be hard. I had two weeks off for the holidays (I’m a teacher) and I got used to going to the gym whenever I felt like it. Now it’s back to getting it done before my work day because I hate (with a capital H) working out after work. I filled my water jug and grabbed my Vega pre-workout energizer and was off…
I’m still in training for my 30K race which is in March but made the decision to start lifting again not too long ago. I’m only going to be running 3-4 days a week so I thought why not work on those muscles with all that extra time I have! I have been doing my own random workouts for the last couple of weeks but feel I need a little direction now so I’m jumping back on the James Wilson wagon. I had started his Body Earned program a while back but some things got in the way so I stopped about halfway through. I’m ready to put my trust in him again and I’m going to try really, really hard to stick with it to the end this time.
If you haven’t heard of James Wilson, check out his Facebook page for details. He’s awesome and is basically an online personal trainer to everyone who is doing his program. It’s only $50 for 12 weeks of training and gives you not only workouts but nutrition guidance as well. Heck, he even called me (he’s from Utah, I’m from Toronto) to discuss a veg-friendly meal plan. If that’s not someone who cares, I don’t know what is!
Anyway, today was week one, day one and I am going to be sore as h-e-double hockey sticks tomorrow. It was a full-body circuit-style workout. I also did 10 minutes of cardio to warm up on the stairmill (aka the devil) and jump roped 100x between every set with my weighted skipping rope to keep my heart rate up. A fantastic workout, if I do say so myself.
Maybe one day I’ll get the courage to post progress pictures!
What time do you try to get your workouts in?
Have you ever trained with a personal trainer (real life or online)?

I train with a personal trainer, I’ve been with her for over a year. I do her online program and love it! If you’re ever interested, let me know and I’ll give you her website (though she’s fairly famous and has been an Oxygen cover model and featured many times in the magazine).
SO cool! What’s her name?? There is an Oxygen cover model from Toronto too – Maggie Diubaldo.
It’s Lori Harder, she’s from Minneapolis, MN (where I’m from). But she has an online training program (with closed FB group page) and can train anyone anywhere.
I love Lori Harder! I am part of her Isagenix team. She is amazing!
Awesome!! Maybe I will contact you in the future for details! I love Lori Harder too
Lori is awesome and so down to earth. She’s great and just a beautiful person inside and out. I can’t rave about her enough. You totally should join her program!
Hey girl good to see you back on the James Wilson wagon!! I found him through you and have since completed all 24 weeks and I’m starting again for the contest his is having!!!!! YAY.
AWESOME!!!!! How did you like the results that you got? I started this week but now I’m thinking maybe to re-start it again next week for the contest! I talked to James and he said it was okay to start early though…anytime before the 14th is what I read (I think).
I LOVED my results!!! I enjoyed the program so much. I learned more in 24 weeks working with James then I have learned in 2 years!! I am definitely starting the program again for the contest not necessarily to win (that would be a bonus) but just to continue with building the best physic my body can be!!! Look forward to you joining in the Journey!!!!
I thought you were talking about Jesus…lol
Lol ED!!!! You are so funny.
LOL SO DID I!
I’m with Ed, that you were referring to the man upstairs. Good luck this time around girl! Ah life…how it messes up some of the best intended plans!
Thanks, Britt!! Yeah that little thing called life….always getting in the way!
I absolutely hate working out in the evenings too, especially right now. The gym is PACKED, everyone is going after work/school. I like to try to get my workout in earlier in the day or sometimes later at night.
You should definitely post progress pictures, you already look great! Pictures along the way will help you to see how well you’re doing too.
Yup, all those New Years Resolution-ers! Taking up all our space in the gym!
We will see….I’m going to take my first pics this weekend. I’m a bit bloated from the Holidays hahaha.
Love me some James Wilson workouts!
ME TOOOOOO!
I just start James’ program yesterday and it is definitely kicking my hiney! I also just recently go more consistent about getting up in the morning and getting to the gym. I’m so thankful I got up after I have a great workout. I agree – especially this time of year, the gym in the evening is awful! Good luck1
I know!! It looks so easy on paper but when you actually do it you just want to DIE! Haha I love James though! Are you going to participate in his contest? I’m thinking about it….
Yes – I think I am going to participate. Just another way to keep me motivated…hopefully! Thanks for your blog! Came across it about a month ago and really enjoy it. I think I may need to try some of those Vega products too!
Happy Wednesday!
OMG your workout sounded amazing! I’m here now way past bed time depressed on how I didn’t even get my work out in at all because I Hate (with capital H) morning workouts. I’m a teacher too and if I don’t work out right after school I’m too tired at night, never mind all the homework! ARGH! You rock girl!
Haha thanks, Carrie! I totally know what you mean. I missed my workout today (Wednesday) because I could NOT get out of bed this morning. I put on workout clothes and covered them up (workout tights with nice boots and a workout shirt with a cardigan on top) so I have NO excuses after work! I have to go right after work because if I go home first, there is absolutely no way I will leave the house again!
Hope today goes better for you!!!
PS – I think I might run a race in Niagara this year so hopefully we can finally meet!
I train with a personal trainer at 5:30am three days a week. I also do cardio 6 days a week for 30 min. On the treadmill at 15 or on the devil as you put it–the stairmill. Two days I go back in the afternoon to do the cardio as I have to get to work and it’s really challenging for me to do cardio after weights and I am not getting up any earlier. Love your posts here in California!!
Thank you SO MUCH! California?!?! I want to visit there one day! It’s on my list!
You are awesome for waking up so early to meet with a trainer. It definitely helps when you have someone to hold you accountable! I agree with you – sometimes after a hard weights session it’s REALLY hard to want to do cardio!
Oh I think you definitely need to come to UT and meet him IRL.
:)
Awesome workout and I love the circuit idea.
5 am every morning!
I’m interested in your weekly routine. You mentioned you are only running 3-4 days a week and now including more strength training workouts. I just ran my half marathon last weekend and had been on a plan of running 5 days, 1 cross train day, and including bootcamp or short circuits on 3 of those days. I’m now going to be training for a 10K (want to keep up mileage in case I sign up for another half marathon) and also tough mudder. Thus I’m trying to figure out how to manage my running but also include some more intense lifting days (maybe similar to the one you did on this post) Thoughts?
Thanks!
What do you teach?
I’m currently training with a personal trainer at my gym and LOVE IT!!!!!!!!! I’ve never been so happy. So proud of you, love! You’re going to do so well
What equipment do you need to have in order todo this work out from home? I don’t have a gym membership and would love to join this challenge.
