You know who has been getting lots of kisses? This guy:
I die. He makes me so happy.
Anyway, I hope you are all having a happy Monday! I am finally sharing that recipe I promised you! You know those little Hershey’s Kisses that are so fun to eat beacause of the cute little silver wrapping they come in? Honestly, it isn’t even the best-tasting chocolate. They just look so dang cute that they get people excited to eat them. Well The Eat Clean Diet Vegetarian Cookbook has a healthier and more delicious alternative to those kisses! Who doesn’t want guilt-free kisses?!
PEANUT BUTTER CHOCOLATE BACKPACK KISSES
YIELD: 33 kisses | PREP TIME: 20 minutes | COOK TIME: 0 minutes
Ingredients
- ½ cup / 120 ml old-fashioned rolled oats
- ¼ cup / 60 ml vegan unsweetened protein powder, as natural as possible
- 2 Tbsp / 30 ml hulled hemp seeds
- 2 Tbsp / 30 ml flaxseed, cracked
- ¼ cup / 60 ml unsweetened dried cranberries
- ¼ cup / 60 ml vegan semisweet natural chocolate chips
- Pinch sea salt
- 1 cup / 240 ml all-natural peanut butter, sugar and salt free
- 2 Tbsp / 30 ml pure honey or other approved sweetener
Preparation
In a large bowl, mix together oats, protein powder, hemp seeds, flaxseed, dried cranberries, chocolate chips and sea salt. Add peanut butter and syrup or honey and mix together. Using your hands, knead mixture together thoroughly. Drop by rounded teaspoonful onto a baking sheet, or use a mini ice-cream scoop. Using your hands, roll into balls. Wrap kisses in squares of aluminum foil, twisting tops to seal, or store them unwrapped in an airtight container.

Now I am sure you can make modifications as you please. Don’t have vegan protein powder? Use an unflavoured whey! Just make sure it is as natural and unflavoured as possible because there are so many other fun things going on in these kisses and you don’t want to mess with them! You can even use different nut butters. I bet cashew butter would be amazing!
These are so easy and awesome to cure that sweet craving without falling off the Strike Sugar wagon!
Do you have a go-to sweet (but healthy) treat?
Do you prefer milk, dark, or white chocolate?

He does love kissing me, especially when I come home from work!!
Let me know if you try out the kisses! Luckily they are gluten-free!!
I agree, Hershley’s kisses are really over-rated! Love the look of this recipe, though I probably would change up the protein powder for something else like almond meal. Which chocolate chips do you use?
Hi Corinne! I have made them with both sugar-free and vegan chocolate chips but I am sure you can use any kind! Cacao nibs would work too!
I would shower him with kisses, too! What a cutie.
By the way, how do you not pop at least five, six, seven of those kisses? I don’t think anyone would even get to SMELL them if I was near!
Hey girl! Where have you been?? Hahahah you’ve got to exercise extreme self control around these kisses! Eat one and then pop the rest in the freezer!

I’d love kisses from your puppy, so adorable! I’m actually baking some breakfast cookies for my picky 1st grader for quick breakfast or to pack in his lunch.I’ll try your recipe too and I bet he’ll love them and let your know. Cute packaging too!
This is such a cute idea!!! I think I’ll make them for Halloween and give them to my friends and family…not so much to kids who knock on my door..their parents might be a little sketched out by what I’m giving them! Hahaha
those little balls look so cute! and how adorable you made them into kisses! your dog is so friggen cute! my dogs are definitely my life too! (:
Thanks for the recipe! Can’t wait to try them!!
Such a cute puppy, adorable!
100% dark chocolate w/ a little added (heatlhy) sweetener, e.g., coconut palm sugar. For the sweet tooth I make chocolate almond bark. mircowave ghirardelli 100% cacao bar, add sweetener, almonds. spread flat on wax paper cookie sheet. let harden in frig. break into little pieces. One piece = satisfied sweet tooth!
Ok I love the new blog layout. When did this change?
