This weekend was a HOT one! What better way to start it off that a good weight lifting session a la James Wilson followed by an outdoor run?! I won’t lie, it’s been a while since I’ve gone for an outdoor run. My runs have been short and crazy interval sessions on the treadmill so it felt nice to go out and run at a comfortable pace.
We covered a short and sweet 5K. I don’t know if it was the heat or if I am out of running shape but I kind of felt like I was going to die. Time to work on that.
What do “runners” do after a strenuous 5K? Refuel with pizza of course! It’s been a while since Dean and I have been on a semi-fancy date so we headed to Pizzeria Libretto and treated ourselves to a mini feast.
We started with mini arancini which are basically deep fried balls of rice and cheese. My grandmother makes these little packages of joy on occasion. They are so bad for you but clearly Saturday was a night of indulging. I got the grilled eggplant and ricotta pizza, also very good but impossible to finish. Dean’s pizza was topped with pears, duck confit, and rosemary. He said it tasted like Thanksgiving stuffing. I guess you can’t complain with that. It was a fantastic dinner and we will definitely be going back the next time I feel like making my stomach look like I am seven months pregnant.
I woke up with the worst stomach ache probably because of all the cheese (I never learn). After eating two slices of dry toast for breakfast we headed to a track to burn (some of) last night’s dinner.
The workout was similar to last Sunday’s circuit except this time we added some tire tosses, bear crawls, and short runs carrying my pink sandbag. Three rounds and we were toast.
Good workouts, Dean with his shirt off, and pizza made for a pretty awesome weekend.
Have you ever tried arancini/rice balls??
What are your favourite pizza toppings? Don’t say you don’t like pizza because that is a big fat lie.
