I hope you all had a lovely Valentine’s day! Mine involved no workout and no clean eating. Whoops. I feel okay about it though because we can’t always have perfect days. My body was sore from three workouts the day before and let’s face it…Valentine’s Day = chocolate. There was no way I was going to say no to some sweet treats on a special day!
My morning started off on the right foot. I made myself some clean vegan pancakes from this girl’s site (using oat flour and Xylitol as substitutions) and topped them with some Greek yogurt mixed with strawberry protein powder for some extra protein (and to make it pink!).
I also snacked lightly throughout the day because I had a funny feeling I was going to come face to face with sugar at some point.
Though we had originally planned to stay in and cook dinner, a part of us wanted to go out because we haven’t had a dinner date in a very long time. We went to my favourite vegan restaurant, Fresh, and it made my tummy so happy
Dean got the BBG burger with a side of white bean and pesto soup. I got the Energy bowl which had brown rice, tofu, cucumber, tomato, sunflower sprouts, and coconut curry. I also got a side of grilled spinach for some extra veggies!
Dinner was awesome and fairly healthy…but then came the treats!
Dean got me a collection of my favourite chocolates. The best one was the caramel-filled with pink himalayan sea salt on top. I love sweet and salty combinations I stuck with a homemade “clean” treat for Dean and made him my clean truffles except I made them with coffee grounds instead of cocoa and he loved them (they taste just like Larabar’s new cappuccino flavour)! I coated some in heart sprinkles because that’s just how I roll…;)
Today I am more than ready to get back to my usual eats and work up a good sweat!
What was the best part about your Valentine’s Day?
