I was so excited with all of your responses yesterday in regards to my “CHruffles”. If you missed yesterday’s post, I reviewed a new product called Choffy (basically brewed chocolate!). I wrote about how I wasn’t a huge fan of the way it tasted as a beverage, but tried it in some recipes and really enjoyed it. One of the recipes was what I called “CHruffles”! They are raw, vegan, gluten-free and guilt-free! Doesn’t get any better than that, does it?
1. process nuts in food processor until fairly ground (I like to leave a few “chunky” pieces)
2. add dates and process again until mixture looks “crumbly”
3. add remaining ingredients (Choffy/cocoa, sea salt, vanilla extract, and water)
4. roll into balls or form into bars 😀
See? Super easy and they taste oh so good! I would like to note though – just because these are “clean” treats, it doesn’t mean you should eat the whole thing!! They are still pretty high in sugar (from the dates) and fat (from the nuts) so you still want to exercise a bit of self-control and make them last a few days! Make the balls really small and when that sweet craving hits, have one or two and call it a day!
You can also get creative and switch up the ingredients depending on what you’re craving. Use a variety of nuts, sub cinnamon or coffee grounds for the cocoa, add different flavoured extracts… So many options!
